About

What is TroubleTaker?

TroubleTaker is a free, ad-supported public resource for people stuck between options. We publish interactive Decision Guides, quick Tools, and plain-language articles — all with one goal: to help anyone, anywhere, think more clearly about the choices that shape their life.

No accounts. No paywalls. No email walls. The ads pay the hosting bill, and everything else stays free forever.

Why this exists

Every day, millions of people type “should I…” into a search engine and get back a wall of hedged, generic advice or thin listicles designed to keep them clicking. We think that’s a waste of everyone’s time. Decisions — about money, work, relationships, habits — shape the shape of a life. When you’re stuck, you deserve a real answer, not a disclaimer.

TroubleTaker exists to be that real answer: a small, free, always-available corner of the internet where you can work through a hard choice with a little structure and a little honesty.

How our Decision Guides work

Each Decision Guide walks you through a short series of honest questions — the kind a smart friend would ask before weighing in. Your answers are scored against the factors that actually change the outcome for most people in that situation, and you get a clear, opinionated recommendation at the end. Not “it depends.” A real take.

Every guide is built from published research, expert commentary, and primary sources. You can see the sources we used linked at the bottom of each guide, so you can check our work and read further if you want to go deeper.

Our principles

What we won’t cover

We don’t publish guides on medical decisions, legal disputes, safety emergencies, or specific investment picks. In those situations, a generic framework can do real harm — you need a professional who can see your actual circumstances. If you’re facing a crisis or a decision with serious safety, legal, or clinical stakes, please talk to someone qualified to help.
